Articulation Agreement by Major
Effective during the 02-03 Academic Year
Based on the 01-02 UC Transfer Course Agreement
====Biology: General Biology B.S.====
DATED MATERIAL, SUBJECT TO CHANGE. PLEASE CONSULT CURRENT UCSD GENERAL
CATALOG FOR ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Special Advising Note:
Transfer students are strongly advised to complete as many preparatory courses
as soon as possible for their major before enrolling at UC San Diego. Preparing
well for the major helps students move efficiently toward graduation.
Beginning Fall 2002, the Division of Biological Sciences will eliminate
pre-major status except for the Biology major with Specialization in
Bioinformatics.
Continuing as a Biology major will be contigent upon the following:
1. Transfer students should have completed eight of the following courses
(or equivalent) at the time of transfer.
BILD 1, BILD 2, BILD 3
CHEM 6A, CHEM 6B, CHEM 6C
MATH 10A/20A, MATH 10B/20B, MATH 10C/10D/21C
PHYSICS 1A/2A, PHYSICS 1B/2B, PHYSICS 1C/2C
CHEM 140A, CHEM 140B
2. A student's best six grades from the eight courses listed will be used to
calculate a GPA which must be at least 2.5.
3. Students must meet with a Division of Biological Sciences staff advisor
during their first quarter at UCSD.
4. Any student who lacks the appropriate course(s) or GPA requirement will
have three-quarters in which to make up the deficiency.
5. Students that do not meet these standards will be dropped from the major.
Students must still complete the full sequence of math, chemistry and physics
including labs as shown below to complete the requirements for UCSD's Division
of Biological Sciences.
